If you find a dog and they have a tag with a working phone number reuniting is relatively easy. If not then,
- Contact the local dog warden in the area the dog is found (details on our lost dog page). This is a legal requirement for a found dog.
- Look after the dog until the dog warden can collect or take them to a local vet.
- Post that you have found a dog on the visitor area of Brighton Dogwatch.
Most dogs are identified using their chip or tag. Brighton Dogwatch does not share most found dogs as usually they are reunited from chip information. There is also a risk of wrongful ownership claims so we advise people not to post details of found dogs to Facebook and other sites. We will share found dogs if they are in the care of the dog warden and either we are asked to do so or we share from their own social media pages.
